July 16, 2005 -
Pam and Tom Curren hosted the
Annual JCOF Pool Party on July 16,
2005 at their lovely
home again this year. There
was a bit of confusion as to the starting time, and Bill and Lynne
Snowden went by the newsletter posting of "noon" and arrived
“fashionably late” at 12:20 pm. Pam was not expecting anyone until
2 pm, but she graciously allowed our entry to assist with the final
preparations.
Mixing a batch of Margaritas was the
first task accomplished, which made the rest a lot more fun! With
each arrival came another delectable goodie for the group to
indulge. Everyone who came was extremely impressed with the Curren's
completely made-over kitchen. It turned out beautifully with only a
detail or two to finish. No more walls or bar to sign….tsk tsk!!
Attendees included the Bill & Lynne Snowden, Ken Hubble, Gayle and
Pete Betterman, Ed Suplick, Bruce Barnwell, Jim Kuhlmann (he even
brought flowers), Linda and Mike Kreul, Barbara and Lou Kairys, John
and Janice Falco, Cecelia and Bill Wheeler with Brittany and
Jefferson arriving later. Most everyone arrived by 2 pm. Notable
vehicles in attendance included a bevy of Jaguars and a couple of
Mini Coopers. For those who couldn’t attend, you missed another
great party.
John Falco and Tom Curren were the only one to enter the pool and
they did so with enthusiasm since it was a scorching
ninety-something all day! Several of us settled for cool feet while
sitting around the rim and chatting!
An informal judge’s meeting was held by Jim Kuhlmann, though some of
us were unaware. Judging assignments were finalized for the
Concours.
The food was outstanding! There were many fabulous salads, sides
and desserts to accompany the hamburgers and hot dogs grilled by Tom
and John. The famous bathtub was loaded with beverages iced down
for our pleasure and it looked rather depleted by the party’s end.
Being almost the last to leave about 7 pm that evening, we can
attest to a fabulous time had by all.
Many will be very surprised that I remember this much!
